Carolina Gold Barbecue Sauce
Carolina Gold Barbecue Sauce, sweet, tangy, with a little bit of a kick
I still remember the first time I had Carolina Gold Barbecue sauce…I was a sophomore in high school in my culinary class. We were deep frying chicken wings to eat, this was a special treat for us. We had buffalo sauce, sweet barbecue sauce, and gold sauce. Yes, the sauces were out of the commercially sized bottles and the brands we had were Cattleman’s and Frank’s Red Hot. I remember how excited everyone was to eat the chicken wings, as all week worked so hard on a teacher’s luncheon and an event. I usually ate my chicken wings with the buffalo sauce or barbecue sauce, but a classmate had me try the gold sauce. Oh my goodness! Sweet, tangy, with a little bit of a kick!! I was in love!!!
The night that I made my brown sugar rubbed ribs, I made this sauce and my sweet and tangy barbecue sauce to accompany them. What an awesome night of southern food and country music!
This sauce reminds me of the sauce that we used to buy and it’s so easy to make!
