This strawberry pineapple banana smoothie was one of my mom’s favorite smoothies when I worked at the smoothie cafe. The original recipe used canned pineapple…err not a fan.
In my recipe, I used frozen pineapple…the joys of being in New England tropical fruit is not the greatest, plus the cost. I like using frozen fruit due to the cost of fresh fruit, the seasonality, and it’s always available. I also like to treat the frozen fruit as my “ice” in smoothies too!
Now at the smoothie shop, we used turbinado sugar (aka sugar in the raw), vanilla extract, and honey with all of our smoothies. However, now I don’t use the sugar or vanilla, only the honey.
As far as the fruit, there are a couple of options
- You can use frozen fruit and not have to use ice or
- You can use fresh fruit and add two cups of ice
