Embracing Plant-Based Food Colors in My Cookie Artistry
Rooted in Nature: The Next Chapter of My Cookie Journey
I’m so excited to share an important update with you! I continue to elevate the cookies I create — not only in beauty and flavor but in the quality and care behind every ingredient. I am finally diving in and making the switch from artificial color to plant based food colors.
When I first began cookie decorating, I knew I wanted to eventually switch to plant based food coloring. After meeting with the owner of PRSM Sugar Co at SoFlo last year and trying out the colors I knew it would be happening soon. When the FDA announced the upcoming ban on Red 3, I decided it was time — and purchased all the plant-based colors from PRSM Sugar.
Starting now, I will no longer be using artificial food coloring in my royal icing. Instead, I’m embracing plant-based colors, derived from nature’s beautiful ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and botanicals.
These plant-based colors will allow me to create vibrant, stunning designs while staying true to a more natural and thoughtful approach. You can still expect the same attention to detail, artistry, and delicious flavor you’ve always known from me — now even closer to the heart of nature.
For my printed cookies, I will continue to use FDA-approved food inks, following the printer’s directions.
This change reflects my ongoing commitment to creating cookies that are not only visually beautiful but also crafted with genuine care, high-quality ingredients, and a whole lot of love.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me — for celebrating the sweet moments, the new beginnings, and now, this new chapter.
I can’t wait to share even more beautiful designs — now naturally colored by the artistry of nature itself.
