Flaky Pie Dough
This is my go-to flaky pie dough recipe prepared with real butter but you can also use shortening too. I know that refrigerated pie dough is convenient, I will use it from time to time. But if you can making your own pie dough it is so worth it! Making pie dough doesn’t need to be difficult especially if you have a food processor and pie dough blade.
This is the same pie dough that I use in my Pumpkin Apple Cider Cream S
- 20 oz. pastry flour if you don't have pastry flour, all-purpose flour works
- 14 oz. cold butter, cubed
- 6 oz. water, ice cold
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 oz. sugar
Gather all ingredients and equipment.
Fit the bowl of a food processor with the pie dough blade.
Add all flour, sugar, and salt to the bowl of the food processor.
Turn on the processor and add in the cubed butter.
Add in water slowly and blend until the mix becomes a dough. As soon as dough consistency appears turn off the machine as you don't want it over mixed.
Wrap up the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes.
